Marta moved from Portugal in 2010 and quickly realised her passion for Cardiology and taking care of cardiac patients. She loves everything related to the heart but has a special interest in cardiac arrhythmias and heart failure. Since working with Congenital Heart Disease patients, Marta has realised the significance of working with young patients transitioning to adult services to ensure they receive excellent continuity of care.
Current role and experience
Marta joined the ACHD Clinical Nurse Specialists team in 2018. She has previously worked many years in a Coronary Care Unit in East Sussex and as a Cardiac Nurse Practitioner, after completing a post-graduation in Acute Cardiac Care. She really enjoyed her time living and working in the South coast but wanted a new challenge and so she moved to Bristol to start working in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. During her time there she looked after patients immediately post cardiac surgery and patients born with heart defects.
Interests outside of work
Marta loves travelling, reading a good book and spending time with her friends and family. She also enjoys doing some gardening and being out in nature.
