Fetal Cardiology. Alison has helped set the fetal service up within the University Hospital of Wales. The fetal cardiology service at University Hospital of Wales received substantial funding from Health Commission Wales to help provide a comprehensive Fetal Cardiology Service in Cardiff. The aim was to increase the number of fetal cardiology clinics to four per week from the original one per week.
Current role and experience
Alison started as Children’s Heart Nurse Specialist in 2004 and before then she was a senior staff nurse on the Peadiatric Cardiology, Nephrology and Paediatric High Dependency ward.She is currently working as a Fetal Heart Nurse Specialist, but also covers paediatric cardiology when needed. Alison currently covers 3 fetal clinics per week but hopes to increase to 4 once all personnel are in post.
Interests outside of work
Alison enjoys attending her local gym, socialising with friends and she volunteers as a Sunday school teacher once a month. Alison loves watching football and tennis and is a keen supporter of Liverpool FC.
