Interests / expertise / research in CHD
After completing her nurse training in Wales, Rachel has worked with cardiac surgery patients at the BHI for many years. The majority of her experience follows the surgical pathway from meeting patients at pre-assessment appointments through to discharge and follow up. Rachel has cared for numerous Adult Congenital Heart Disease patients and their families and has seen lots of changes to the ACHD service since it began in 2002.
Current role and experience
Rachel joined the CNS team in February 2021, prior to this she worked as a senior staff nurse in Cardiac Intensive Care and as a Cardiac Surgery Research Nurse. Rachel enjoys meeting patients and their families, providing them with information and support as well as signposting and referring to other network services wherever needed.
Interests outside of work
Rachel enjoys reading, baking, meeting up with friends and family as well as keeping active through running, walking and yoga.
