Interests / expertise / research in CHD

Dr Beake achieved the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI) Certification in Congenital Heart Disease Echocardiography in May 2018. He assesses children referred from other Paediatricians and GP’s with cardiac concerns such as murmurs, palpitations, fainting and chest pain. Dr Beake also provides familial echocardiography and ECG screening for inherited cardiac diseases. 

Current role and experience

Dr Beake completed his general paediatric training in the Severn Deanery in August 2019 and completed 18 months of that training in Cardiology and Paediatric Intensive Care at the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children.

He started working as a consultant paediatrician in Gloucester Royal in September 2019, and works on the paediatric inpatient ward, the paediatric assessment unit and the paediatric emergency department assessing and treating acutely unwell children.

Dr Beake offers a weekly cardiology clinic in Gloucester Royal and a twice a month general clinic in either Tewkesbury Community Hospital or Cheltenham General.

He works closely with the Bristol team and attends their visiting Consultant outreach clinic in Gloucester Royal, and also has an honorary contract with the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children which means he can travel to their clinics on occasions and partake in their Joint Cardiac Conferences (JCC’s).

Interests outside of work

 Dr Beake has 3 children under 4 years, and so other interests are currently on hold!
