Cardiac rehabilitation involves exercise, education and relaxation to help with your wellbeing and quality of life.  The University Hospital Bristol and Weston NHS Trust (UHBW) Cardiac Rehabilitation team have developed some resources to help you.

The website page was developed for a wide range of different  heart conditions so not all the content will be useful for adult patients with congenital heart disease  (ACHD) patients.   You may find the following parts helpful:

  • Exercise prescription: This includes different exercise videos (including seated, moderate and advance exercises) as well as links to other exercise resources.  Before you attempt any of the exercises, please discuss this with your consultant or specialist nurse to ensure that it is appropriate for you to exercise.

  • Educational talks, which may be of interest to you would be: cardiac medication, diet, mental wellbeing, stress and relaxation. (implantable cardiac defibrillator ICD, permanent pacemaker (PPM), atrial fibrillation (AF), heart failure talks and importance of exercise in ACHD -coming soon!)

  • Emotional support and wellbeing: This includes self-referrals to Vitaminds and several different relaxation resources including breathing control, relaxation videos and visualisation.
